The discipline in brief.

The discipline teaches compliance risk assessment, regulatory change management, data protection impact assessment, conformity assessment and remediation, under ISO 37301, the GDPR and the disclosure rules in force for the organisation. Its method of regulatory horizon scanning is the faculty's horizon scan applied to rules rather than hazards: each change a signal with its source, placed by impact and horizon. A graduate can run a regulatory change record from scan to remediation, write a data protection impact assessment and read a product against the standard it must conform to.

This area covers compliance risk management and how organisations track and respond to new and changing rules: compliance programmes, regulatory horizon scanning, data protection obligations, disclosure duties and the conformity of products and services with standards. It is taught in the department of Law and Regulation, Faculty of Governance, Policy and International Affairs, through 1 course with it as primary discipline.
