Risk Management
Model risk and validation, taught twice over: as the working methods of the field and as its frontier since 2024, with labs on the Academy's tools, open data and the Nexus Standards.
This area covers the risk that decisions rest on models that are wrong or misused, and the controls that manage it: model inventories and governance, validation and back-testing, monitoring and drift, explainability and fairness, third-party and generative AI models, and human-in-the-loop controls.
It gives model risk functions an international reference for extending validation and monitoring to AI systems. Financial Stability Board, FSB finalises sound practices for the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), 15 October 2026

Every course of the programme placed in this discipline.
The Academy proposes how each discipline teaches toward the Nexus Standards; the mapping is open for public review. Bodies and standards are named so learners can find and apply their published work; the Academy teaches their use and links to the publisher, and no affiliation is implied.

Key terms
The potential for loss or poor decisions from errors in models or their misuse.
Independent review that a model is sound and fit for its purpose.
Comparing model predictions with what happened.
Change in data or relationships that degrades a model over time.
Reports is the Consortium's quarterly publication. What you know about this subject can become evidence, a case or a correction in the next edition, credited to you and published under CC BY 4.0 where it is your own work.
Every course is free and open. Institutions and experts can co-teach, host a cohort, contribute a lab or review a course before it opens.
Our articles, maps and twins are free to read and free to republish. Readers and partners keep it that way.
