Scope
- 1.1 These Terms apply to everyone who creates a learner account, joins a course or pathway, takes an assessment or receives a completion record on risksacademy.com or its faculty sites. They apply together with the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
Accounts
- 2.1 An account is for one person, who gives accurate information and keeps the means of access to the account confidential. A learner tells the publisher at the contact form if the learner believes someone else has used the account.
- 2.2 Accounts are for people aged 16 or over. A younger learner uses the Academy with a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on the learner's behalf.
- 2.3 Account records are kept while the account is open and, after it is closed, for [TO BE SUPPLIED: period for which account records are kept after an account is closed].
Courses, pathways and material
- 3.1 Courses and pathways are described with their aims, study hours, assessed elements and prerequisites before a learner joins. Material may be updated to keep it accurate; a learner who has started keeps access to the version needed to finish, where that is possible.
- 3.2 Course material is licensed as stated on it. Instruments, models and twins in courses are teaching tools that run published methods on cited or illustrative data, and their outputs are not results or advice.
Honest assessment
- 4.1 Work submitted for assessment is the learner's own. Impersonation, sharing answers, and presenting the work of others or of an AI system as one's own are not allowed.
- 4.2 An AI system may be used in an assessment only where the assessment says so, and its use is disclosed as the assessment asks.
- 4.3 A breach of these rules may lead to an assessment being set aside, a completion record being withheld or withdrawn, or the account being suspended, after the learner has had the chance to respond.
Completion records
- 5.1 A completion record states the course or pathway, the date of completion and the elements studied and assessed. It is issued by [TO BE SUPPLIED: name of the body that issues Academy completion records] and can be verified through the link it carries.
- 5.2 A completion record records what was studied and assessed, and no more. It is not a diploma and not a degree, it is not a licence to practise and not a professional qualification, and it does not certify competence. Whether another body gives it any weight is for that body to decide.
- 5.3 A completion record issued in error or obtained through a breach of these Terms may be corrected or withdrawn, and its verification link then states so.

Fees, payment and refunds
- 6.1 Most courses are free. Where a course, pathway or service has a fee, the price, any tax and what it includes are shown before payment. Payment is processed by the payment service provider named at checkout under its own terms; card details are entered with that provider and are not seen by the publisher.
- 6.2 Refunds: [TO BE SUPPLIED: refund period and conditions for any Academy offering sold for a fee].
- 6.3 Nothing in these Terms limits a right of withdrawal, cancellation or refund that the consumer-protection law of the learner's country gives, including the rules on contracts for digital content and services concluded at a distance.
Community spaces
- 7.1 Discussion and study spaces follow the Code of Conduct and the Acceptable Use Policy, and are moderated. Contributions to them are governed by the Contribution Terms.
Closing an account
- 8.1 A learner may close the account at any time from the account settings or by writing to the contact form. Personal information is then handled as the Privacy Policy describes; completion records already issued stay verifiable unless the learner asks that their verification link be withdrawn.
- 8.2 The publisher may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, after giving the learner the chance to respond unless the security of the Academy or the safety of others prevents it.
Law and contact
- 9.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules that would apply another law, without prejudice to any mandatory protection of the law of the country where a user lives.
- 9.2 Questions about these Terms go to the contact form.
