International Affairs and Diplomacy
Diplomacy, cooperation and the global commons, taught twice over: as the working methods of the field and as its frontier since 2024, with labs on the Academy's tools, open data and the Nexus Standards.
This area covers how states and institutions cooperate on shared risks through agreements, regional bodies, science diplomacy and dialogue, and how global commons such as the atmosphere and the high seas, and shared resources such as transboundary rivers, are governed.
It creates the first legally binding framework for area-based protection and impact assessment on the high seas, a core global commons. United Nations, BBNJ Agreement | Agreement on Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction, 17 January 2026
