Scenario analysis and stress testing, taught twice over: as the working methods of the field and as its frontier since 2024, with labs on the Academy's tools, open data and the Nexus Standards.
This area covers the design and use of scenarios and stress tests: narrative and quantitative scenarios, severity and plausibility, reverse stress testing, climate and systemic stress tests, sensitivity analysis and the governance of scenario work, including exercising scenarios with decision makers.
Disclosing scenario models improves scrutiny of scenario design and governance but may affect how banks prepare. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Proposed 2026 Stress Test Scenarios, 24 October 2025

Every course of the programme placed in this discipline.
The Academy proposes how each discipline teaches toward the Nexus Standards; the mapping is open for public review. Bodies and standards are named so learners can find and apply their published work; the Academy teaches their use and links to the publisher, and no affiliation is implied.

An assessment of how a system or institution performs under severe but plausible conditions.
Identifying the scenarios that would cause a system or business to fail.
Whether a scenario could credibly occur given current knowledge.

Every course is free and open. Institutions and experts can co-teach, host a cohort, contribute a lab or review a course before it opens.
Our articles, maps and twins are free to read and free to republish. Readers and partners keep it that way.
