Twin figures for the Horn of Africa and the Nile basin states, counted from its layers at their stated dates.

Twin builder and simulator.

For Security, defence and hybrid threats: the faculty's twin of Horn of Africa on the planet map, the globe and in 3D. Pick a generator, switch layers, run the instruments; every layer prints its provider and date.

The Horn of Africa and the Nile basin states: a flat plan of the faculty twin. 13 countries; First-level divisions, geoBoundaries gbOpen with a licence gate per boundary: live, loads in the twin; Disaster alerts, GDACS live: live, loads in the twin; Natural events, NASA EONET live: live, loads in the twin. The discipline in brief.

The discipline teaches threat assessment and security studies, hybrid threats and grey-zone activity, the sabotage of energy links, subsea cables and pipelines seen in the Baltic since 2023, economic coercion, civil preparedness and total defence, deterrence and escalation, arms control, and security in space and cyberspace. It reads the EU CER Directive and NIS2 as the civil side of protection and the Horn of Africa on the faculty's stage as a region where state and non-state security risks overlap. A graduate can assess a hybrid threat to a system, map who must act and design the preparedness that reduces it.

This area covers national and international security as a risk discipline: defence planning, deterrence, hybrid threats that combine sabotage, cyber attack, disinformation and economic coercion, and the protection of critical infrastructure and societies against them. It is taught in the department of Peace, Conflict and Security, Faculty of Governance, Policy and International Affairs, through courses still to be authored.
