The discipline teaches the CPMI-IOSCO Principles for Financial Market Infrastructures (2012) with settlement finality, credit and liquidity risk management and operational risk, central counterparty margin and default waterfalls, cross-border payment frictions, tokenisation and digital asset custody, open finance data sharing with consent, fintech operational risk and third-party concentration, and regtech for supervision. A graduate can assess a payment system against the principles, trace a default through a central counterparty's waterfall, map a fintech service's dependency on cloud and data providers, and specify the operational resilience a settlement system must show under Regulation (EU) 2022/2554.
