Nexus-Based Risk Management

Most risk management is organised around one unit: an organisation, a hazard, a sector or a territory.

The flagship pathway, scope by scope

Nexus-Based Risk Management flagship pathway: one module per scope, from the entity outwards, ending with deciding across scopes.

04Why

Why entity practice is not enough on its own

05Scope

Five scopes, nested

Each established framework keeps its home scale.

06Method

The method cycle

Entity registers feed the nexus layer; nexus findings return to entities as tolerances, scenarios and triggers.

07Courses

The RAX courses

The RAX courses are in development; until they open, the flagship pathway above routes through open courses for each scope.

11Institute

The Institute for Nexus-Based Risk Management

It convenes disciplines from every faculty around interdependencies, cascades and shared exposure, and hosts the NRM stream, the flagship programme and its capstone.

12Source

Where the paradigm is set out

NRM follows the Nexus-Based Risk Management standard published in the Nexus Rail documentation, whose design pattern is "ERM inside, NRM outside". The Academy teaches it as a paradigm and a method; decisions stay with the actors who hold authority.

13National model

From nexus learning to national practice

Nexus-Based Risk Management is applied where countries organise their risk work.

14Questions

Questions and answers

Is NRM a replacement for ERM?
No. NRM keeps ERM, ISO 31000 and COSO as its entity layer and adds the management of what lies between and above entities.
Is NRM the next version of ERM?
No. It is not a peer framework competing with ISO 31000, COSO, the Sendai Framework or the water-energy-food nexus; each keeps its home scale and authority.
