Science and public services run on computing capacity, and the quantum era forces a transition on the cryptography that protects it.

Twin figures for West Cornwall: Goonhilly and the Porthcurno cable landings, counted from its layers at their stated dates.
For Department of Computing, Data and Quantum Technologies: the faculty's twin of the Lizard and Penwith on the planet map, the globe and in 3D. Pick a generator, switch layers, run the instruments; every layer prints its provider and date.

Flat plan of the same data: relief as contours from the inline grid, the mapped ground infrastructure by kind, the mapped cables and the numbers below. The 3D twin opens on devices with WebGL once its data and library have been checked.
The map loads from this site as it nears the view (MapLibre 6.9.1, checked by hash).
The department's methods are capacity and concentration analysis of cloud and edge systems, power usage effectiveness and water use of compute, reproducible pipelines with provenance, cryptographic inventory and migration planning to the post-quantum standards FIPS 203, 204 and 205, and the reading of realistic timelines for quantum computing, sensing and key distribution. On the twin the data centres and cable landing stations of West Cornwall and the night lights draped on the terrain show where the digital economy draws power. A graduate can audit a data pipeline for reproducibility, estimate the energy and water a compute load needs, inventory an organisation's cryptography and sequence its migration.
Department of Computing, Data and Quantum Technologies is a department of Faculty of Technology and Digital Systems with 2 disciplines. 1 of the 2 courses with their primary discipline here are open for enrolment now; 1 are in preparation.
A mark is one primary course, filled when it is open.
News and research as they are published, per discipline, with the faculty's other tools.

| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Data infrastructure, compute and semiconductors | This area covers the data infrastructure and computing capacity that science and public services rely on: cloud and edge systems, high-performance computing, chips, the energy and water use of compute, reproducible pipelines and access to research infrastructure. |
| Quantum technologies | This area covers quantum computing, sensing and communication, their realistic timelines and limits, and the transition risks they pose, above all the migration of public-key cryptography to post-quantum algorithms. |
Each discipline page sets out its scope, courses, labs, technology and key terms.
