Twin builder and simulator.

For Just transition, social and human rights risk: the faculty's twin of Delhi on the planet map, the globe and in 3D. Pick a generator, switch layers, run the instruments; every layer prints its provider and date.

Delhi and its National Capital Territory core: a flat plan of the faculty twin. Terrain 191 to 315 m; 950 hospitals; 26,073,018 people in the box, 2020; Population density, GPW v4.11 (2020): live, loads in the twin; Air quality, Copernicus CAMS via Open-Meteo (hourly, 5 days): live, loads in the twin; Nitrogen dioxide column, TROPOMI (Sentinel-5P): live, loads in the twin; Surface air temperature, AIRS (daily, day): live, loads in the twin; Urban heat island, summer daytime 2013: live, loads in the twin; Built-up and settlement extent, HBASE 2010: live, loads in the twin. Contours every 50 metres from the elevation grid; people per cell, worldpop 2020 as four classes per cell (edges 4,474, 14,627, 25,652); hospitals as marks.

The discipline in brief.

The discipline teaches due diligence under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (2011) and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct (2018), the ILO Guidelines for a just transition (2015), consent processes with Indigenous and local communities, distributional analysis of a carbon price or a plant closure, social dialogue, and grievance mechanism design against the effectiveness criteria of the Guiding Principles. A graduate can carry out due diligence for a project with a stated scope and a remedy path, assess the distributional effect of a climate policy on households and workers, and design a grievance mechanism that meets the effectiveness criteria.

This area covers the social side of risk and transition: just transition for workers and communities, human rights due diligence, free, prior and informed consent, the distributional effects of climate policy, and grievance and remedy. It is taught in the department of Human Development, Work and Social Policy, Faculty of Health and Society, through 1 course with it as primary discipline and 2 more that also teach it.
