The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI)
Risk Academy, a Nexortium programmeFaculty of Governance, Policy and International Affairs
Evidence, innovation, AI oversight, information integrity and technology security
Knowledge about risk is trusted only when it is produced, reviewed and corrected in the open; new technologies are adopted in the public interest only when they are tested; AI and digital systems need oversight, the information ecosystem needs care, and dual-use technologies need control.

Twin figures for the Horn of Africa and the Nile basin states, counted from its layers at their stated dates.
For Department of Science, Technology and Society: the faculty's twin of Horn of Africa on the planet map, the globe and in 3D. Pick a generator, switch layers, run the instruments; every layer prints its provider and date.
Drag to turn the globe, Ctrl with the wheel to zoom. Keyboard: arrows turn, + and - zoom, 0 resets, V steps through the views, Escape clears.
Flat map of the same data: the 13 countries on a graticule and the numbers below. The globe opens on devices with WebGL once its library has been checked; the live alerts, events and divisions load in the globe on request, each with its data date.
The map loads from this site as it nears the view (MapLibre 6.9.1, checked by hash).
The department's methods are evidence synthesis and evidence grading, reproducibility and correction practice, technology assessment and regulatory sandboxes, algorithmic impact assessment and conformity assessment, information operation analysis with content provenance, and export control and investment screening reading, under ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act, the GDPR and the Wassenaar Arrangement. The faculty's stage is the department's worked example of evidence discipline: every layer carries its source, date and licence, every estimate is labelled, and a missing row leaves a cell empty rather than filled. A graduate can grade the evidence behind a claim, assess a technology before adoption and write an AI oversight or information integrity response that names its methods and its limits.
